Kel-Tec is a gun company from Florida that has gained a significant foothold in the U.S. Market since it began producing firearms in 1995. While the company does produce both rifles and pistols in centerfire and rimfire configurations, the company is best known for it’s line of reliable pocket pistols such as the P-32 and P-3AT.
The company is fully invested in the practice of building guns based on a polymer frame platform. Just about every gun that they produce, whether pistol or rifle, features extensive use of strong and durable synthetics in its constructions.
In early years, public reception of Kel-Tec guns was cool. Shooting enthusiasts had yet to be fully won over by the “wonder gun” revolution and so-called plastic pistols were still considered unreliable with many simply standing on the sidelines waiting for the reports to begin to surface that the long term use of such guns would prove them to be worthless in the long run. Often perception is everything and Kel-Tec guns received an extra dose of this early scorn as their guns were both polymer framed and small, both of which were perceived as elements of weakness by hard-core shooters.
As time has gone by, this attitude as changed as gun owners have become more educated and the number of people carrying pistols and revolvers for self defense on a daily basis has dramatically increased. This change in demographics has worked well for Kel-Tec which has earned a reputation for their pocket pistols being both reliable and extremely easy to conceal.
